Questions

Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers. If yours isn't here, ask us on WhatsApp and a planner will reply.

General

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October to April is the most comfortable time, with warm days and cool evenings, so it is also the busiest and highest-priced season. May to September is hot, especially in Luxor and Aswan, but sights are quieter and prices are lower. We plan summer days around early starts and a long midday break. Christmas and New Year sell out early.

What is included in the price?

Each trip lists exactly what is included and what is not. In general our prices include private transport, a private Egyptologist guide, entrance fees for the listed sites, hotels or cruise as described, and the meals shown. International flights, visas, tips, drinks and optional extras are not included.

Are your trips private or in a group?

All our trips are private: just you and the people you travel with, your own guide and your own driver. You never share a vehicle or a guide with strangers. Nile cruise ships are shared with other guests, but your sightseeing on shore is private.

Is Egypt a good trip for children?

Yes. Children love the pyramids, felucca sails and the Red Sea. Children aged 2 to 11 pay 50% of the adult price on most trips, and under-2s travel free. Tell us their ages and we will plan shorter visits, pool time and family rooms.

Can you plan a slower pace or help with limited mobility?

Yes. Because every trip is private, we can plan shorter days, more rest and fewer stairs. Some ancient sites have uneven ground and steps, so please tell us about any mobility needs when you ask for a quote and we will be honest about what is practical.

How does tipping work in Egypt?

Tipping is part of daily life in Egypt and is not included in our prices. Small tips for drivers, guides, cruise crews and hotel staff are customary; your planner will send you a simple guide with typical amounts before you travel, so you are never left guessing.

Can I reach you on WhatsApp during my trip?

Yes. Once you book, you get a WhatsApp number for your planner and a local contact on the ground. Message us any time during your trip if something needs changing.

Booking & payment

How do I book and how much is the deposit?

Send a booking request with your dates and we confirm availability and the final price, usually within 24 hours. Multi-day trips and cruises need a 50% deposit to confirm, with the balance due before you travel. Day tours and shore excursions are paid in full when you book.

What if I need to cancel or change my trip?

Changes are usually possible, depending on how close to the date you ask and on hotel and cruise rules. Refunds follow our cancellation policy, which you will see before you pay. Please see our policy page for the exact terms, and talk to your planner first: we will always try to move dates before you cancel.

Visa & entry

Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Most visitors from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the EU need a tourist visa. Many nationalities can get an e-visa online before travel or a visa on arrival at the airport, but the rules change. Please check the official Egyptian e-visa portal or your nearest Egyptian embassy before you book flights. Your passport should be valid for at least six months after you arrive.

Can I get an Egypt visa on arrival at Cairo, Luxor or Hurghada airport?

Passport holders from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the EU can buy a 30-day single-entry tourist visa sticker for $25 USD in cash at the bank kiosks before passport control, or apply in advance on the official Egypt e-Visa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg).

Safety

Is Egypt safe for first-time visitors, families and solo travelers?

Yes. Millions of travelers visit Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea every year. Because every trip with us is private, you are met inside the airport, travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with a vetted driver, and have a licensed guide with you at every monument.

Nile cruises

What is the difference between a Nile cruise and a dahabiya?

A Nile cruise ship carries around 100 to 150 guests and has a pool, sun deck and set departure days. A dahabiya is a traditional sailing boat with a handful of cabins, a slower pace and stops at quieter sites. Both include full board and guided visits.

Which days of the week do Nile cruises depart?

Most 4-night Luxor-to-Aswan cruises depart on Mondays and Saturdays, while 3-night Aswan-to-Luxor cruises depart on Wednesdays and Fridays. Dahabiyas usually sail on Saturdays. Tell us your dates and we will match the right sailing to your itinerary.

Transfers

What happens if my flight or cruise ship is delayed?

We track your flight or ship schedule in real time. Airport transfers include 60 minutes of free waiting time after landing, and your driver waits in arrivals with your name on a sign at no extra charge if your flight is delayed.
