1. Day 6 Luxor – Explore the East and West Banks

   Location:

   Luxor

   Discover Luxor, a city renowned for its extraordinary concentration of ancient Egyptian monuments and its importance as the historic capital of Thebes. Begin on the East Bank with a visit to the vast Karnak Temple Complex. Marvel at its monumental columns, towering gateways, and sacred avenues, which reflect the achievements of generations of pharaohs. Continue to Luxor Temple, an impressive ancient sanctuary associated with royal ceremonies and the celebrated Opet Festival. Cross the Nile to the West Bank and explore the Valley of the Kings, the royal burial ground of numerous New Kingdom pharaohs. Continue to the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, whose elegant terraces rise dramatically against the surrounding cliffs. Complete your sightseeing with a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous stone statues that have stood watch over the Theban necropolis for thousands of years. In the evening, transfer to Luxor Railway Station and board your overnight sleeper train to Cairo. Dinner will be served on board as you travel north.
