Visiting Egypt with Kids: Pacing, Sights and Family Tips
How to plan a family trip to Egypt that children actually enjoy — the right age, half-day temple pacing, family hotel rooms, food and Red Sea beach time.

Egypt is magical for kids who have read about mummies, pharaohs and pyramids at school. The secret to a great family trip is pacing: four hours of temples in the morning is exciting, while eight hours in the sun leaves everyone exhausted.
Because every family tour we run is private, you are never tied to a bus timetable. We start early while it is cool, turn temple visits into treasure hunts for cartouches and animal gods, and have you back at the hotel or cruise ship pool by early afternoon.
Beyond the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum (which has spacious galleries and interactive displays), our top hits with children and teens are sailing on a traditional wooden felucca in Aswan, riding a camel at a calm pace at sunset, visiting a colourful Nubian village, sandboarding on the dunes at Fayoum, and finishing with two or three days snorkelling over shallow coral reefs on the Red Sea.
For sleeping arrangements, standard Egyptian hotel rooms and cruise cabins fit a maximum of two adults and one child on a rollaway bed. For a family of four or five, we reserve guaranteed connecting rooms or family suites before you pay your deposit. Children aged 2 to 11 receive 50% off the adult rate on most of our packages, and under-2s travel free.
Food is easyeven for picky eaters: grilled chicken (shish tawook), flatbreads, rice, pasta, fries and fresh mango or strawberry juices are on almost every menu, and we keep bottled water and snacks in your private minivan all day.
Questions travelers ask
What is the best age to bring children to Egypt?
Ages 7 and up get the most out of the tombs, mummies and stories, and can handle early starts and steps inside the pyramids. Younger children are very welcome too when we build in shorter mornings and pool time.
Can a family of four share one cabin on a Nile cruise?
Standard cruise cabins hold up to two adults and one child; for a family of four we book two connecting cabins side by side.
Do children get a discount on your private tours?
Yes — children aged 2 to 11 pay 50% of the adult price on most packages and day tours, and infants under 2 travel free.
