Is Egypt Safe to Visit in 2026?
An honest, on-the-ground look at safety in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea, how tourist areas are protected, and how private travel removes the common hassles.

Safety is the first question almost every traveler from the US, UK, Canada and Australia asks us before booking. The short answer: the classic route — Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Red Sea resorts — is calm, heavily patrolled and welcomes millions of visitors every year.
Government travel advisories draw a sharp line between the main tourist corridor along the Nile and Red Sea and remote border zones such as North Sinai or the western frontier. None of our itineraries go near restricted border areas, and desert trips to Bahariya or Siwa travel with registered permits and desert drivers.
In practice, what bothers visitors in Egypt is rarely physical danger — it is persistent street touts around the Giza plateau or Luxor’s corniche, confusing taxi negotiations and heat fatigue. Travelling privately solves almost all of this: a representative meets you inside the airport terminal, a vetted driver stays with your vehicle while you sightsee, and a licensed Egyptologist walks with you through every monument so touts leave you alone.
Road travel is the one area we take most seriously. We use modern air-conditioned vehicles, professional tourist drivers who know the highways, and daytime departures on long intercity stretches such as Luxor to Hurghada or Aswan to Abu Simbel.
For health and comfort, drink bottled water (we keep a cold supply in every vehicle), wear a hat and sunscreen even in winter, and pace your days with early starts and a quiet afternoon break.
Questions travelers ask
Is Egypt safe for solo female travelers and seniors?
Yes, especially on a private trip where your guide and driver meet you at your hotel door and accompany you at every stop, so you never have to haggle with street taxis or navigate crowded areas alone.
Are the pyramids and Nile cruises safe right now?
Yes. The Giza plateau, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Luxor, Aswan and the Nile cruise ships operate normally every day with dedicated tourist police and airport-style security checks at entrances.
What emergency support do I have during my trip?
You have direct 24/7 WhatsApp and phone access to your trip planner and our operations team in Cairo, plus your guide on the ground in each city.
