Overview

From the cruise port in Ain Sokhna: a private tour of Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis, timed around your ship, with pickup at the port and a back-on-board guarantee.

Step 1: Morning Pickup & Drive

  • Meet your guide and driver directly at the ship disembarkation terminal inside Sokhna Port.
  • Drive west along the highway bypass directly into the southern Nile Valley necropolises, avoiding central Cairo entirely.

Step 2: Dahshur Necropolis (1.5 Hours)

  • Bent Pyramid: View King Sneferu’s early pyramid, famous for its dramatic change in angle midway up its casing—representing a crucial transition in pharaonic pyramid design.
  • Red Pyramid: Stand at the world's first successful smooth-sided true pyramid. (Optional interior descent down a long stone corridor into the vaulted burial chambers).

Step 3: Memphis Open-Air Museum (1 Hour)

  • Ancient Capital: Explore Mit Rahina, the site of ancient Memphis—the first capital of unified Egypt founded by King Narmer/Menes around 3100 BC.
  • Colossus of Ramesses II: View the giant 10-meter-long limestone statue lying horizontally inside a custom viewing pavilion.
  • Alabaster Sphinx: Inspect the massive single-block limestone sphinx dating to the New Kingdom.

Step 4: Egyptian Lunch Break (1 Hour)

  • Stop for lunch at a local countryside restaurant near Saqqara, enjoying freshly baked Egyptian flatbreads, grilled meats, and mezze salads.

Step 5: Saqqara Necropolis (2 Hours)

  • Step Pyramid of Djoser: Explore the world's oldest monumental stone building complex, designed by the royal architect Imhotep during the 3rd Dynasty.
  • Courtyards & Enclosure Wall: Walk through the restored colonnade and vast Sed festival courtyard surrounding the Step Pyramid.
  • Noble Mastaba Tombs: Step inside Old Kingdom tombs (such as Ti, Mereruka, or Kagemni) to view intricately carved and painted wall reliefs depicting daily life, farming, and river fishing.

Step 6: Return Drive to Sokhna Port

  • Board your private vehicle in the late afternoon for the drive back along the highway to Sokhna Port, arriving well ahead of your ship's all-aboard time.
  • Bent and Red pyramids
  • Step Pyramid
  • Memphis open-air museum
  • Quieter alternative to Giza crowds

Good to know

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October to April is the most comfortable time, with warm days and cool evenings, so it is also the busiest and highest-priced season. May to September is hot, especially in Luxor and Aswan, but sights are quieter and prices are lower. We plan summer days around early starts and a long midday break. Christmas and New Year sell out early.

What is included in the price?

Each trip lists exactly what is included and what is not. In general our prices include private transport, a private Egyptologist guide, entrance fees for the listed sites, hotels or cruise as described, and the meals shown. International flights, visas, tips, drinks and optional extras are not included.

Are your trips private or in a group?

All our trips are private: just you and the people you travel with, your own guide and your own driver. You never share a vehicle or a guide with strangers. Nile cruise ships are shared with other guests, but your sightseeing on shore is private.

Is Egypt a good trip for children?

Yes. Children love the pyramids, felucca sails and the Red Sea. Children aged 2 to 11 pay 50% of the adult price on most trips, and under-2s travel free. Tell us their ages and we will plan shorter visits, pool time and family rooms.

Can you plan a slower pace or help with limited mobility?

Yes. Because every trip is private, we can plan shorter days, more rest and fewer stairs. Some ancient sites have uneven ground and steps, so please tell us about any mobility needs when you ask for a quote and we will be honest about what is practical.

How does tipping work in Egypt?

Tipping is part of daily life in Egypt and is not included in our prices. Small tips for drivers, guides, cruise crews and hotel staff are customary; your planner will send you a simple guide with typical amounts before you travel, so you are never left guessing.

Can I reach you on WhatsApp during my trip?

Yes. Once you book, you get a WhatsApp number for your planner and a local contact on the ground. Message us any time during your trip if something needs changing.
